Level 3 Assistant Accountant Qualification
The AAT Level 3 Assistant Accountant course has been designed for those starting careers in the accountancy profession in entry level accountancy roles. It can be a ladder leading into a variety of careers with supporting professional qualifications. We include the AAT Level 3 Advanced Diploma in Accounting within this apprenticeship.
The Level 3 Assistant Accountant training is ideal for those who will assist in day-to-day financial activities such as data entry to month-end management accounts and/or year-end financial statements. They may also find themselves involved in regulatory financial requirements such as the completion of VAT returns or assisting in the preparation of tax computations.

An AAT (Association of Accounting Technicians) qualification is a practical, industry-focussed qualification that will enable learners to manage finances, budgets and cashflow effectively and play a key role in business growth. AAT qualifications demonstrate a level of excellence and work-readiness sought after by business.
Specifically, learners will:
Gain the knowledge and skills required to produce accurate financial statements
Develop an understanding of financial processes including accounting principles and concepts. To understand business issues regarding VAT, management accounting costing techniques and ethical practices for accountants
Formalise and benchmark their skills with a nationally recognised qualification.
Successful completion of the training will enable the learner to:
Recognise and use different accounting approaches to support decision-making, planning and control
Produce quality and accurate information which enables consistent delivery of high quality financial and performance data.
Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours including:
Financial Accounting and Reporting – Preparing VAT returns and/or year-end adjustments
Team Working and Collaboration –Support and collaborate with colleagues to achieve results
Being aware of their role within the team and their impact on others
Ethics and integrity – Ensuring they meet the ethical requirements of the profession.

Individual employers set the selection criteria, but they are likely to be 5 GCSEs, including Maths and English. However, some employers accept other relevant qualifications and experience, including a relevant Level 2 qualification. Apprentices without English or Maths at Level 2 must achieve this prior to taking the end point assessment.
Delivery and Duration
Solvo Vir’s training programme combines online and face-to-face tuition to give learners the best possible chances of success. Our team of expert trainers will at intervals throughout the course visit learners at their place of work, providing training and support. Meanwhile, the technical aspects of the training will be taken online, using a high-quality virtual learning environment.
Typically, the Level 3 qualification can be completed in 15–18 months.
Next steps after completing this course
As well as ensuring full competency as an Assistant Accountant, this training lays the foundation for progression into a number of career paths in the Accounting sector. These include: Audit Trainee, Corporate Recovery Analyst, Credit Controller or Tax Accountant.
