Solvo Vir were pleased to recently welcome Ofsted in for our first monitoring visit of our Apprenticeship delivery programmes. We have been delivering Apprenticeships for almost two years now, and were keen to speak to the inspectors about our journey that began early 2017.
Recognition of quality mentors, programmes and communication
With the quality of our programmes being of utmost importance to us, we were delighted to be recognised for our ‘vision and pursuit of excellence’ and our ‘highly effective links with employers’.
The report adds that we ‘maintain good communication with employers and mentors in the workplace’ ensuring that the support we provide is effective and meaningful.
With the 20% ‘off the job’ training requirement being such an integral yet challenging part of any apprenticeship programme, we were commended for our ‘rigorous’ recruitment of apprentices. We were also recognised for ensuring that ‘apprentices and employers fully understand the requirements of the apprenticeship programme’.
Our quick response to the previous comment (directed at all apprenticeship providers) of ‘improve the monitoring and reporting of the progress that apprentices [are making] towards the apprenticeship standards’ was mentioned, as well as our support and progression of apprentices that were transferred to us from a failing provider.
When choosing a training provider, we understand that it is important to employers to develop a collaborative working partnership with them. Because of this, our relationships with our employers and learners are essential to us.

We are keen to obtain as much feedback as possible from both employers and learners to support our constantly improving portfolio of programmes in management, accountancy, recruitment, business administration and customer service.
Our Head of Quality, Wendy Whyatt stated ‘I’m thrilled with the results of our first visit from Ofsted, which recognise the hard work of our team. We are extremely proud of the development and support that we offer to our apprentices, and our learners are at the heart of everything we do.’
